Does an international driving licence itself entitle me to drive in PL?

The international driving licence is not an autonomous document that replaces the national driving licence. 

The international driving licence is merely an officially certified copy of the national driving licence translated into foreign languages. It is only valid with the original driving licence. It can therefore be used while in possession of a national driving licence although it happens that practice deviates from this rule.
