I am from Ukraine, I was in Poland before 24.02.22. Can I apply for a temporary residence card?

Pursuant to special legal regulations introduced in connection with the war in Ukraine, if the last day of the period of stay of a Ukrainian citizen in Poland on the basis of a national visa falls within the period from February 24, 2022, the period of stay on the basis of this visa and the period of validity of this visa are extended by law until August 24, 2023.

Such a person, therefore, enjoys the right to reside legally on the territory of Poland until August 24, 2023 and, during the period of legal residence, an application for a temporary residence permit may be submitted to the competent Provincial Governor for the place of residence.

It is worth noting that special legal regulations regarding the possibility of obtaining UKR PESEL status and the entitlements associated with it do not apply to persons who resided in Poland in the period prior to February 24, 2022, the date of the Russian armed invasion of Ukraine.
